Unbeknownst to me, March 8 is actually Interational Women’s Day! And I’m pretty glad that I spent it well with three MS’s – Ms. Kelly Misa, Ms. Patty Laurel, and Marks & Spencer.
It was an intimate gathering of sorts, held at Greenbelt 5 Makati, that focused on Kelly & Patty’s personal style tips and tricks. As a part time stylist, I always look forward to hearing other people talk about their own style (or how they style clothes) because there’s always something new to learn and it’s like seeing fashion through another person’s perspective. Oh! And it was also an intro to M&S’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection! 🙂
Loved how the event was styled!
The delicious hors d’oeuvres were bountiful and so was the champagne!
M&S is known for its elegance and simplicity all rolled into one – much like their new S/S 16 collection and our hosts that night! Our eyes were treated to a feast of timeless pieces that are clean, modern, and paid attention to fit and detail.
Here are a few style tips that I took home with me that night:
Loving the swimwear options! Definitely eyeing that classic one piece! Also, a tip for working moms – pick clothes that are perfect for movement, just like Patty’s picks above.
- You work hard, and so should your clothes. – Or as Patty would like to call her closet investments “hard workers”. Prefer quality over quantity. After all, you work hard to pay for these clothes, might as well pay for quality that would last a long time! Also, pick hardworking clothes in a sense that they are very versatile and staple pieces that can easily be part of your daily rotation.
- Comfort is key. – “Always choose comfort.” I think this point is self explanatory and I strongly agree!
- Every woman should have these staples in her closet: a crisp white shirt, figure flattering swimwear, a go-to-bag, everyday shoes, and the perfect pair of denim jeans.
Speaking of jeans, Patty and Kelly showed us an array of perfect fitting denim jeans from M&S’s S/S 16 collection. There were a ton of new in-trend styles/silhouettes to choose from and at affordable prices that! Anyone eyeing the light washed jeans like I am?
Q&A portions happened after each topic
Of course, Marks & Spencer let the celebration continue even after the event with a International Women’s Day special sale – 20% OFF on all womens wear and lingerie y’all!
My seatmates/new friends – it was so nice meeting you ladies! 🙂
Afterwards, we were treated to more tasty hors d’oeuvres and got the chance to chat (and take photos hihi) with the lovely hosts! Paolo picked me up after for some japanese and I could not think of any better way to end this already fun day. Belated happy International Women’s Day again everyone! Here’s to attending more events and learning new things while I’m at it.
All the best,
